Respect

Women are earth,
Women are the birth,
Women are the one who made you born.

They cook,
They clean,
They are grateful in everything.

Most men hurt,
Most men act dope,
But men are men,
And women are women.

UPA WARRIOR

Hi, my name is Lizeth Arroyo. I am in the 8th grade in the school Urban Promise Academy for three year. I can say that does three years are the best years of my life. I want everybody to know that the teachers here are very smart, honest, perseverant, delightful, friendly, loving, and also very good leaders. They were the friendly people that showed me hoe to perserver and showed me how to be honest with everybody and also respectful. Well that's what I have to say about the school I attend to.

Slave Life

Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
but when it came to slavery,
there was nothing sweet,
Only work to do.

Hearts were broken,
Independence was chained,
Liberty was on their mind,
Liberation was their crime,
but all they think of,
that they were slaves without their rights,
that they were slaves always committing crimes.

Hide Me In My Mask

I have a mask, you have one too
If you take it off, I'll do it too

If I have a dream to take it off
So do you

We hide our fears
We hide our tears

We put the mask to hide our
Lies in our eyes

I Am From.....

I am from the 510 were everyone goes dumb.
I am from Oakland were I stay at the Murder Dubb'z.
I am from the ghetto city were all you see is fights in the middle of the streets & all you hear is shots in the middle of the night & the 5-0 is everywhere trying to calm down every sight.
I am from a family that came from Mexico in a little place called Michuacan.
I am from a family that loves to cook delicious food like posole & tamales.
I am from a family that came from love & that's how it made me become who I am.

If I've Met You

For you, Samuel(grandfather), I would help you get up
in the mornings say good morning,

I would make you your eggs & bacon wit coffee &you'll
Turn on the t.v & watch favorite old movies of Vicente Fernandez,

You would tell me,"Llamale a tu abuelita." & I would say,"Okay."
Then you'll tell my abuela, "Vieja as me frijolitos pa comer."

Then you'll turn on your stereo & sing along with the Cd "Los Bukis"
After you are done with your Cd, you'll down on your old wood chair
& drink your wine to relax you.

Then you'll take me to bed & I say, "Buenas noches." Then you'll give
Me a kiss in the forehead & I would tell you, "See you tomarrow."
